KOTTARAKKARA: Former MLA and All India Lawyers Union state treasurer P Aisha Potty is quitting politics. She said the decision is due to her health issues. She has been staying away from party programmes for quite some time. She cannot stay in the party without doing anything. Let people who are able to run around continue, she said.
Aisha Potty was removed from the CPM Kottarakkara area committee for not being active in party activities. Aisha Potty estranged from the area meet, has been at loggerheads with the leadership for a long time. Expected her to attend at least the second day of the meet, but she did not turn up.
After the elections, there were complaints that the party was neglecting her. It was heard that Aisha Potty, a three-time MLA, would be considered for the post of speaker or women's commission chairperson. She was not considered for any posts, was also excluded from development activities in the constituency.
