THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Motor vehicle department officials were inspecting vehicles in Ernakulam. At that time, a vehicle with the board 'MVD Society' was seen. Since there was no need to inspect the vehicle from own department, the vehicle passed by. However, one of the officers became suspicious. "Is there such a society in the department?" the officer raised doubts on the official WhatsApp group. With the confirmation that there was no such society, it was investigated who owned the vehicle. It was found that it was a society formed by an association of motor vehicle department middlemen.
They have registered themselves as MVD Society. It was also found that they had used the acronym MVD on banners and notices. This is happening when heads of departments and the minister are repeating that these middlemen will be kept away from offices. The official interpretation is that some of the reforms, including online application, were brought in to reduce their involvement.
Although there are many organisations for middlemen, all of them generally use the name auto consultant. The abbreviation 'MVD' itself was used when one of these organisations formed the society.
Those concerned dropped the name when they came to know that it would be a problem. Though the organisation leaders and top officials of the Motor Vehicles Department were invited for the inauguration of the society and the state conference of the organisation, many withdrew.
