PALAKKAD: The Elappully panchayat's claim that it was not aware of the government's preliminary approval to start a brewery by Oasis Company has been refuted. The documents show that a representative of the panchayat attended the online meeting called by KSIDC on February 26, 2024 regarding the approval. The minutes of the meeting in this regard have been released.
The documents prove that the claim that the construction of the brewery was not informed to the panchayat is wrong. The full layout of the project is also clarified in the minutes. The minutes also clarify that ethanol, ENA, IMF bottling unit, brewery and malt unit will be started and that the RDO has been instructed to reclassify the land.
The panchayat had received a request on February 14, 2024, from KSIDC to participate in the online meeting. It was also clarified that the agenda of the meeting to be held on the 26th was regarding the brewery to be started by Oasis Company in Elappully.
Meanwhile, the Panchayat Secretary told the media that he did not attend the meeting. "The Assistant Secretary attended the meeting instead of me. I had informed the KSIDC authorities about my leave. The brewery and distillery were not in the letter. I did not receive the letter from the official mail of KSIDC. I received the letter from the email ID Liju John. Only the meeting information was in the letter. The administrative committee was not informed because the panchayat's proceedings were not required. There was no lapse," the Panchayat Secretary clarified.
