THRISSUR: BJP leader B. Gopalakrishnan has leveled serious allegations against Prithviraj's mother Mallika Sukumaran and wife Supriya Menon in connection with the Empuraan controversy. Gopalakrishnan raised these accusations as the controversy surrounding the film continued to heat up. He claimed that Supriya Menon is an urban naxal. He also stated that Mallika Sukumaran, who posted a note on the controversy surrounding Empuraan, should "put her daughter-in-law in her place."
"In her Facebook post, Mallika Sukumaran stated that Major Ravi should think whether it was right to isolate Prithviraj in the ongoing controversy. Through this post, Mallika indirectly opposed Mohanlal and directly criticised Major Ravi. BJP has only one thing to say to Mallika Sukumaran: You have someone in your house, your daughter-in-law. She is an urban naxal. You should first try to put that arrogant woman in her place," Gopalakrishnan said.
Ahead of the release of Empuraan, Supriya Menon had expressed her support for Prithviraj through a post on social media. In the post, she spoke about the long journey leading up to the release of the film and praised Prithviraj's hard work, leadership, and vision.
'In less than 12 hour,s Empuraan will be handed over to the audiences worldwide. It’s been a journey like no other and I am glad I got a ring side view! P @therealprithvi, I’ve seen how much work you’ve put in, the countless hours writing, rewriting, discussions, prep, recces and then shoot across continents which was plagued by weather problems! It’s been a mammoth exercise executed by the team in absolute precision. But I dare say all this has happened due to the absolute clarity of YOUR vision and leadership.! Since we met in 2006 you’ve been telling me about your dream to take Malayalam cinema places and now we are at that very cusp! Whatever happens tomorrow (27th March), I will always be behind you, cheering and supporting you on as you push forth towards your goals as is evident in this picture taken on the very last day of shoot.
You are not Illuminati, my friend, but are my ahangaari, thaantoni, thandedi husband! I know how much people have ridiculed you and the audacity of your dreams. To all of those naysayers, I have only one thing to say “Aalarinjyu Kalikyada”!' she wrote on her Instagram page.
