Man murders woman after luring her into fake suicide pact

KOZHIKODE: A 26-year-old woman was murdered after calling her on the pretext of committing suicide together. The incident happened last Saturday at Elathur in Kozhikode. The police have taken the accused Vaishakan of Kozhikode into custody in connection with it.

The woman was found hanging in a firm near Malikkadave in Kozhikode. Initial reports say that it is a case of suicide. The murder came to light during an investigation conducted. Vaishakan and the woman were in a relationship. Police said that he feared that the woman would reveal their relationship and so committed the murder.

Vaishakan called the woman to his firm, making her believe that as they could not continue their relationship, they would die together. The two tied noose around their necks and then stood on the stool. In the meanwhile, Vaishakan knocked over the stool and killed the woman. He later escaped from there. There are reports that he had sexually abused her even when she was a minor. Sections including POCSO may be imposed on him. Police said they are questioning him.
