Kerala set to bid adieu to youngest organ donor; Body of Alin Sherin Abraham brought home, hundreds flock to pay homage

PATHANAMTHITTA: Alin Sherin Abraham declared brain dead after a car accident, is bidding adieu after giving new lives to four children. Prayers began at 7 am Sunday at the George Mathen Hospital Chapel in Mallappally. After the public homage at the hospital, her body was taken home in Nedungadappally at 8 am. The public homage was after prayers conducted at her house. Hundreds of people are flocking to pay their last respects to Alin.


When her body was brought home, the locals, relatives and family members were seen sobbing uncontrollably. The public homage will be till 2 pm and after that prayer services will begin at home. At 3 pm, the body will be taken to St Thomas Church in Nedungadappally in a cortege. After the prayers at the church at 4 pm, she will be laid to rest with official honors. Many including ministers will attend her funeral.

Alin Sherin Abraham was declared brain dead after a car accident in Kottayam on February 5. She has donated her heart valve, liver, kidneys and eyes. Her mother Sherin, who sustained injuries in the accident, was discharged from the hospital the other day. Alin’s father, Arun, was the first to think about organ donation. Arun said that when he told Sherin, she wholeheartedly agreed and then coordinated the organ donation process through the government system, K-SOTTO. Arun had told the media the other day that the whole world loves Alin along with us.
