KOCHI: Reports say more government officials will be among the accused in the construction of Maradu flats. This was clarified by crime branch ADGP Tomin Thachankary. They will be taken into custody as soon as evidences are obtained.
Thachankary said former panchayat members of Maradu who gave sanction for the construction of the flats violating rules will also be investigated. More will be among the accused, he said. With the arrest of the three, the remaining flat owners and fourth accused Maraad panchayat former clerk Jayaram Naik in the case are absconding. Thachankary said that he is not aware of Jain Company owner getting anticipatory bail.
Meantime, a decision has been taken to give compensation to 107 owners of Marardu flats ordered by the apex court to raze it. They will reach the municipality today morning and sign in the stamp paper of Rs 200. The amount will be deposited in their bank accounts in two days. Sub collector Snehil Kumar in charge of the demolition informed this at the press meet convened yesterday.
