KANNUR: Congress MLA VT Balram alleged that the Kerala police is trying to protect former BJP leader Padmarajan, the teacher accused of sexually abusing a minor girl in Palathayi. According to Balram, the police is trying to save Padmarajan as the charge sheet shows that the accused has been charged with trivial offences and not under the POCSO act.

Taking it into Facebook, Balram said that though medical examinations showed that the girl was sexually abused, police failed to charge the accused under the sections of POCSO act. He also added that the accused can easily get bail after the completion of 90-day remand as he has been charged under weaker sections of the Juvenile Justice Act.
