IDUKKI: Two more bodies of those missing in the massive landslide that struck Pettiumudi in Rajamala have been recovered. With this, the death toll rose to 51. The two bodies were recovered from the stream in Pettimudi. 19 more have to be found. Twelve escaped from the landslide which struck their houses on Thursday night.

Of the 19 remaining, 15 are children. It is difficult to identify the bodies as the incident happened five days back. The bodies are in a decomposed stage. DNA tests are likely to be conducted.

The search is hampered by heavy rains, floods and large boulders. Rescue operators have decided to continue search in river using drones and other equipment. The rescue operations are progressing with strong security measures as COVID fear continues. Collectors of Idukki and Kottayam and officials leading rescue operations will convene a meet later today.
