THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the rapid spread of the pandemic, decisions on whether a full-scale lockdown is needed in the state will be taken tomorrow. The evaluation meeting to be held under the leadership of the chief minister will decide whether another lockdown is needed in the state. Police and the health department have informed the government that the current mini lockdown is not enough to contain the spread of the pandemic.

Earlier the government has decided not to go for a full-scale lockdown after consulting with all political parties in the state hence, the government declared mini lockdowns with more stringent curbs. Whereas the police and health department holds the view that it has failed to produce the desired results.

The doctor's body has also demanded that a two-week-long lockdown is necessary to contain the rapid spread of the pandemic. Reports suggest that the health ministry also holds the same opinion. A final decision on lockdown will be taken considering these reports.

Meanwhile the curbs in Ernakulam district which is currently witnessing a high rate of transmission will witness more regulations from today onwards. The condition in Ernakulam will be the focal point in the talks to be held tomorrow. The panchayats in the district which have a TPR of more than 25 percent will witness new curbs similar to lockdown.
