Customs asks Arjun Ayanki's wife to appear for questioning; crucial evidence obtained from house

KANNUR: The Customs has directed Karipur gold smuggling accused Arjun Ayanki's wife to appear for questioning. She has been asked to reach the Customs office in Kochi on Monday. Customs officials said that they had obtained crucial evidence from Arjun's house.

It is learnt that the documents obtained from the house could prove that Arjun was involved in gold smuggling. Customs said that it had also received digital evidence. Meanwhile, Arjun Ayanki has corrected his earlier statement regarding the phone. Earlier, he had stated that he lost the phone while moving the car from the deserted field. However, in his new statement, Arjun said that the phone was thrown into the nearby Valapattanam river.

Arjun also told the officials that he came to Karipur to receive money and not to steal gold. Customs suspects that Arjun is trying to escape from the case by admitting his role in the unsubstantiated allegations. Customs inspections are still going on at Arjun's house.
