THRISSUR: Two more people have been arrested in the Karuvannur Co-operative Bank fraud case. Branch manager Biju Kareem and accountant C K Gils are the two surrendered. The arrest of the accused has been registered. The court had the other day rejected their anticipatory bail plea.
Biju is the second accused and Gils, the third accused. They are being questioned. The first accused was arrested earlier. With this, three have been arrested in the case so far. Three more people are yet to be arrested. There are reports that they had taken loans of around Rs 14 crore from various blade companies in Thrissur city.
Meantime, Minister V N Vasavan said action will be taken today on the interim report submitted by the committee appointed by the government in the bank fraud case. The minister said that a high level meeting has been called. Fourteen officials including auditors, who failed to find the irregularities, are likely to be suspended.
