Resident found hanging as Amin arrived with court order to vacate house

PAYYANNUR: A resident was found hanging when Amin arrived to enforce the court order to vacate the house due to non-payment of rent. G Gopalakrishna Shenoy (57), who lives in a rented quarters on Payyannur Ambalam Road was found hanging in the room. The incident took place at 11 am yesterday.

He was found hanging when officers looked through the window after the door did not open. Police, who accompanied the court officials, smashed the door and rushed him to the hospital but could not save him. He and a sister lived in the house. This sister spends most of her day at the Payyanur Municipal Corporation Day Home.

The landlord says he has not paid rent for three years. Following this, the owner approached the court and obtained a favourable verdict. He was a fertilizer trader in Payyanur town. Gopalakrishna Shenoy is the son of Subramanya Shenoy. He was unmarried. Neighbours said he was not too close to anyone.

His mother is the late Radha Shenoy. Siblings: Venkatesh Shenoy (Payyannur), Vithila (Bangalore), Shyamala (Payyannur), Vidya (Aluva). His body is in Kannur Govt. Medical College mortuary.
