KOZHIKODE: Health Minister Veena George said the route map of the 12-year-old boy who died of Nipah virus will be prepared and published. The minister said this is done so that those who came in contact with the child could enter isolation. The child was not Covid positive at any point, she said.
The process of preparing the boy’s contact list is on. The list of primary contract is ready. Attempts are also being made to trace the source of the disease. The minister said that reviews are being conducted in this regard.
The health workers of the hospital where the child was treated have been asked to enter isolation. A route map including the vehicles traveled by the child will be prepared.
The child first came to the hospital with fever on August 27. He was later admitted to the medical college and later to a private hospital. An investigation will be conducted on why the disease could not be detected at the medical college, she said.
The minister said that when the child was brought to Kozhikode Medical College, the symptoms could not be identified and the samples not taken will be examined. It remains to be seen why this went unnoticed despite being familiar with the nipah in 2018.
The boy, a native of Pazhoor in Chathamangalam, Kozhikode was buried at Kannamparambu Crematorium.
