MALAPPURAM: Muslim League general secretary P M A Salam lauded the chief minister for rejecting former minister K T Jaleel’s demand for a probe by the ED in the black money deposits of P K Kunhalikutty and his son at the A R Nagar Bank in Malappuram.
‘The chief minister has already replied to Jaleel. He had asserted everything that has to be said. If there is any irregularity in the bank, it should be investigated by the co-operative department. The league has no obligation to respond to those passing by. Will respond if responsible parties level allegations,’ Salam said.
The chief minister rejected Jaleel's demand at the press meet convened last evening at 6 pm. 'The co-operative sector in Kerala is not an issue to be dealt with the ED. Jaeel must have developed a trust in ED after being repeatedly questioned by the agency. The ED inquiry in a co-operative bank should not be raised normally. The CM said such a demand was not right.’
Soon after the chief minister rejected his demand, Jaleel came forward with a response. 'The chief minister is like a father figure to me. He has the right to advise and correct me. The fight against Kunhalikutty, who criminalized League politics, and his illicit money-hawala transactions and illicit property acquisition will continue till my last breath,’ Jaleel said in a Facebook post.
