Search for accused who hacked youth in broad daylight in Kochi

hacked

KOCHI: A youth was hacked in broad daylight in the city. The police have intensified a search for the accused who fled after hacking the youth. The incident happened Wednesday morning at 6.30 am near K K Road in Kaloor. Akhil (24) residing in Amritha Colony in Ambalamugal was hacked. He has been admitted at the Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital. He sustained deep injuries on his chest, ear, hands and legs.

Indications are that a native of Ottappalam working with Akhil in the meat shop hacked him. A verbal dispute that broke out at the meat shop may be the reason for the incident. The accused is a person who regularly travels in trains without taking a ticket. So inspections are being carried out at railway stations as well. Not using a mobile phone is a hurdle for the investigation. Only his mother is at home, the police said.
