Red alert declared again in Idukki Dam as water level rises

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Red alert has been declared again in Idukki dam. The district administration said the move was due to rising water levels. The alert is modified according to the rule curve. The current water level in the dam is 2398.30 feet.

On Thursday, an orange alert was issued in eight districts including Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur. Yellow alert was declared in other districts. The Met Office has warned of heavy rains during the night. The rain is expected to continue till Monday.
