THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The party state president K Sudhakaran clarified that the selection of KPCC office bearers was based on merit. "Adequate representation of all categories is given in the list. There may be those who are dissatisfied and those who think that the party is big will not take to the streets", Sudhakaran said.

The list was compiled after discussions with senior leaders Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala. KC Venugopal did not intervene in the list. Those in the group are on the list. But the criterion for electing leaders was ability. The High Command had not made any changes to the list submitted by Kerala and hopefully, there won't be any objections against the list, Sudhakaran added.

Sudhakaran clarified that it isn't mandatory that women have to be vice presidents and when the list of secretaries comes, there will be more women representation. Ramani P Nair was considered for the post of Vice President, but some factors in the election led to the withdrawal of Ramani's name. Suma Balakrishnan is not in a position to be active in the party. Sudhakaran also claimed that AV Gopinath was with the party even though he was not included in the list
