THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lashing out at the CPM, opposition leader VD Satheesan on Saturday said that a party leader's daughter was being forced to stage a protest to get back her baby. The opposition leader, who demanded justice for Anupama, also criticised the Health Minister and the Child Welfare Committee.

"There is a legal system here. However, the CPM has taken over the law in the state and Anupama, daughter of a CPM leader, is facing the consequences of the same. She is now being forced to stage a protest to get back her child. Where was Minister Veena George when Anupama complained six months ago? What was the Child Welfare Committee doing when she came up with a complaint? Anupama should get justice," Satheesan said. He also alleged that all adoption laws were violated in the case.

"Anupama's protest is the biggest example of how this government and the CPM have been handling the issues faced by women. A similar incident took place in Kottayam as well. A woman was physically assaulted by SFI leaders," Satheesan added.
