Financial assistance to expatriates; those eligible can still for relief fund of NORKA Roots

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Expats can still apply for NORKA's one-time relief fund for Kerala expatriates who returned home following the Covid outbreak. Eligible candidates can still apply on the official website of NORKA Roots at www.norkaroots.org.

A grant of Rs 10.58 crore has been disbursed so far this financial year. The project has helped about 1600 beneficiaries.

Districtwise breakdown of beneficiaries:

Thiruvananthapuram-242, Kollam-262, Pathanamthitta-76, Alappuzha-129, Kottayam-35, Idukki-2, Ernakulam-40, Thrissur-308, Palakkad-120, Wayanad-3, Kozhikode-103, Kannur-84, Malappuram- 243 and Kasargod-44.

The maximum assistance is Rs. 50,000 / - for the treatment of NRIs / close family members whose annual income does not exceed Rs. 1.5 lakhs, Rs. 100,000 for the heirs of the deceased NRI, Rs. 15,000 for the marriage of daughters, and Rs. 10000 / - for purchase of disability equipment for expats /family members.
