THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite being presented with two plans to become a great public sector undertaking and to ensure profits, KSEB has avoided both.
They are interested in increasing the tariff rate to make people suffer.
The plan prepared by the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode and the Uday project of the Union Ministry of Power to make KSEB profitable were scrapped.
Employees did not like the redeployment and suggestions for increasing productivity. Things did not move beyond appointing a committee to study how to implement it.
The Uday project, which was introduced in 2015, was abandoned as it belonged to the Center. The package, which was expected to be completed in 2019, was accepted by states including Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha.
In 2014, the Kozhikode Indian Institute of Management prepared a comprehensive plan to make KSEB profitable.

Under the Ujjwal Discom Assurance Yojana (Uday Package) a MoU has to be signed with the Centre.
The main condition is that rates shouldn't be increased massively to cover the loss.
The central government will bear 75% of the debt of Rs 7,000 crore till 2015 as bond and 25% as security.
A grant of Rs 4178 crore will be given to make the distribution system flawless.
