Son held for beating up 93-year-old mother for property

KANNUR: A man was arrested for beating his 93-year-old mother in Mathamangalam. The children of Meenakshy Amma of Peroor in Mathamangalam brutally thrashed her for property. The police arrested Raveendran, son of Meenakshy Amma.

A case has been registered under various sections including murder attempt. Police said the other children had gone underground. The complaint lodged asserted that her children beat her for the property of their late sister.

Meenakshy Amma sustained injuries all over her body. The incident happened on December 15. The incident came to light after a voice message and video clippings on the abuses hurled at their mother for not signing the documents, circulated. Children playing outside recorded the dialogues. Meenakshy Amma has ten children and three had died earlier.
