Number of Covid victims rising sharply in country; Maharashtra has highest number of patients

NEW DELHI: The daily number of Covid cases in the country has crossed 25,000 again. More than 27,000 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. Daily cases have increased four times in a week’s time.

Maharashtra has the highest number of patients. In the last 24 hours, 9170 people have been diagnosed with the virus. Bengal is just behind. 4,512 people were diagnosed with the disease in 24 hours in the state.

In Delhi, 2,716 people were diagnosed with the disease yesterday. In the national capital, there was a 51 per cent increase in the number of Covid cases per day. Experts say there is a possibility of a third wave in the country as there is a transmission of the disease. The central government has directed the states to set up temporary hospitals.
