Vegetables and fruits accepted as bribe in Walayar; official runs into nearby forest after realizing presence of Vigilance team

PALAKKAD: Vigilance seized Rs 67,000 at the RTO check post in Walayar. Vigilance also found that officials were taking bribes in the form of vegetables and fruits along with money. The Vigilance inspection was carried out last night.

Realizing the presence of the Vigilance team, Motor Vehicle Inspector Binoy ran into the nearby forest and tried to escape. There were five officers at the check post. Action has been recommended against them. The other four are Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors George, Praveen, Aneesh and Krishnakumar.
