KOLENCHERRY: Doctors suspect that a two-and-a-half-year-old girl who was admitted to the Kolencherry Medical College Hospital with serious injuries has got 'Shaken Baby Syndrome'. This is thought to be the reason why the baby does not speak.

Shaken Baby Syndrome is caused by forcefully shaking an infant or toddler. This can cause injury to the brain and can also damage the nerves. It also affects other parts of the body. It remains to be seen whether this has happened.

According to the hospital's medical bulletin, the baby's health has improved significantly. The baby's brain scan completed. There is also a decrease in edema.

A surgery was completed for the fracture of the child's left arm under the guidance of Dr. Sujith Jose of the Orthopedic Department.

The baby of Soumya, a native of Kumbalam, was brought to the hospital from Thrikkakara on February 21 with fatal injuries in a mysterious incident.
