NEW DELHI: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called to rebuild the ancient temples at the Qutub Minar complex. Hindu rituals and prayers should be resumed, VHP demanded. Last day, leaders, including the organisation’s national spokesperson Vinod Bansal, had visited the Qutub Minar. Following which the demands to rebuild the temples were raised.
“We visited major parts of the site and it was heart-rending to see the condition of the idols of Hindu deities. Qutub Minar was built with materials obtained after demolishing 27 Hindu temples. The superimposed structure was built just to tease the country”, Bansal said.
Earlier, National Monuments Authority (NMA) chairman and BJP leader Tarun Vijay had raised the issue of the disrespectful placement of Ganesha idols in the Qutub Minar complex. The Delhi high court had rejected a suit seeking the restoration of temples and the right to worship in the Qutub Minar complex, last year.
