KSEB strike, High Court says KESMA can be applied if necessary

high-court

KOCHI: The High Court has said that there is no hindrance in implementing KESMA if necessary in connection with the KSEB strike. The court ruled that the Board could use KESMA in the event of a disruption to KSEB's operations. The High Court issued the interim order on a public interest petition questioning the strike.

The KSEB Officers' Association is protesting against the retaliatory actions of the KSEB Chairman and Management. The indefinite strike in front of Vaidyuthi Bhavan was suspended. When the case was heard last week, the Kerala High Court ruled that it would not interfere in the strike of KSEB officers. The private public interest litigation was that the power supply belongs to essential services sector and the strike should be called off. The case was heard by a single bench of the High court.
