KOCHI: The High Court expressed its displeasure and concern by pointing out that several high-tech buses are getting rusted at depots and yards at a time when there are no buses to run adequate schedules for KSRTC. A division bench comprising Justice Devan Ramachandran and Justice PG Ajith Kumar said that the corporation should show at least some efficiency in such matters in the face of a major financial crisis.
The division bench, while considering the public interest litigation filed by Kasargod native N Raveendran against the rusting of 2,800 buses, sought an explanation from KSRTC. On April 18, 'Kerala Kaumudi' published a special report stating that KSRTC buses were being destroyed by rust. The petition was filed citing media reports including this. The court will consider the petition again on May 6. The petitioner alleged that the authorities were destroying the buses and thereby reducing schedules in order to promote K-Rail and KSRTC Swift.
