THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: "Who should we ask for wages?" Management is saying that the government is not giving any money. The minister says that the government cannot give any more. The unions are talking about the strike, how long should we work without pay?" This is the problem faced by an average KSRTC employee.

Halfway through the month, the KSRTC employees are yet to get their salaries. They are unable to find the money for family expenses, treatment, and loan repayments. The schools are about to open. With the Thrikkakara by-election fast approaching, there is only hope that the Chief Minister will intervene and resolve the issue. Although minister Antony Raju met the Chief Minister on May 11, no action was taken. Antony Raju said that the strike that took place on May 5 led to the disruption of the distribution of salary. He said that those employees who went on strike without trusting the government should suffer.

Rs 82 crore is required for salary distribution alone. The management has Rs 30 crore provided by the government. If it fails to get a loan, it will have to wait until the amount after the fuel cost from the daily collection is enough for the salary.
