CHENNAI: In a shocking incident, a Plus Two student was stabbed to death by her classmate in Kallakurichi in Tamil Nadu. After registering the murder case, the accused was shifted to a observation home.
The accused teen was allegedly body shamed by the murdered student. The accused asked the student to refrain from calling him a 'girl'. After she ignored this, the enraged student called the girl to a party near the school and then attacked her with a sickle.
"Body shaming leads to severe mental health problems in students", State Child Rights Commission member Dr. Saranya Jaikumar said.
Meanwhile, the number of cases registered in the name of students in Tamil Nadu is increasing. Several cases of alcoholism and assault on teachers have been reported. Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi had recently said that students with problems would be expelled from school in the view of increasing problems among students.
