Thrikkakara: Leaders visiting houses to secure votes

KOCHI: Soon after the candidates of three fronts intensified the Thrikkakkara election battle by launching vehicle campaigning, senior leaders, ministers and MPs started visiting houses to seek votes. All three fronts are giving priority to grassroots-level activities.

The LDF and UDF candidates had started their vehicle campaigns a few days back. The NDA candidate started the vehicle campaign yesterday. The LDF's call is to complete 100 in the assembly through Thrikkakara by listing the achievements of the second Pinarayi government. The UDF is campaigning by proclaiming that the Thrikkakara election is an opportunity for the people to vote against the government that has pushed the state into a debt trap. Meanwhile, the NDA is actively campaigning by accusing Kerala of sabotaging central projects.

Ministers on the battlefield

A large contingent of state leaders, including ministers, participated in the LDF campaign in Thrikkakkara yesterday. Ministers and leaders are taking part in door-to-door visits and family gatherings. Ministers K Radhakrishnan, Muhammad Riyas, Veena George, K Rajan, V Sivankutty, VN Vasavan, KN Balagopal, Roshy Augustine, Ahmed Devarkovil, Saji Cheriyan, former ministers Ramachandran Kadannapally, KT Jalil, AK Balan, Thomas Isaac and John Brittas MP campaigned full time.

UDF strengthens allegations
UDF leaders Ramesh Chennithala and PK Kunhalikutty reiterated yesterday that LDF leaders, including ministers, were campaigning on the basis of religion and caste.

UDF leaders such as former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Opposition Leader VD Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, MPs Benny Behanan, Hibi Eden, Kodikunnil Suresh, Adoor Prakash, leaders VM Sudheeran, VT Balram and Muslim League leader PK Kunhalikutty are actively taking part in campaigning at the grassroots level.


NDA against government

NDA candidate A.N Radhakrishnan started his vehicle campaign yesterday. Former Union Minister Alphonse Kannanthanam participated in the campaigning. The NDA held a protest march before the Collectorate yesterday alleging that the Pinarayi government was a failure.
