THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sushama Kumari, the mother of Prajin, has made a crucial statement in the case of her son's brutal murder of his elderly father, Jose, in Vellarada. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm on Wednesday at their Charuvilakkam bungalow in Kiliyoor, Vellarada, where Prajin (29) hacked Jose (70) to death. Sushama Kumari has revealed that she now suspects black magic was involved in retrospect, shedding new light on the possible reason for such a crime.
According to Sushama Kumari, Prajin, who was studying cinema in Kochi, exhibited strange behaviour, including isolating himself in his room. The family was not allowed to enter his room, and any attempts to do so were met with threats.
Sushama Kumari expressed fear for her safety and that of her daughter, stating, "I am afraid if my son comes out, I or my daughter will be the next one". She further added that she used to hear a humming sound like "Om" from Prajin's room but was unaware of what was happening inside, only realising later that it might have been black magic. "If my son comes out of jail, he will kill me too," she said.
The police investigation revealed that Prajin had intentionally attacked Jose while he was sleeping in the hall after returning home. Jose was followed and repeatedly stabbed in the neck and chest as he attempted to escape. At the time of the murder, only Jose, Sushama Kumari, and Prajin were present in the house. Sushama Kumari tried to intervene but was unable to stop her son.
Following the incident, Prajin surrendered to the Vellarada police, citing the reason for his actions as sudden anger towards his father for restricting his freedom and not giving him the money he wanted.
