11,000 employees retired: replacement appointment will be delayed

kk

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Although there are more than 11,000 retirement vacancies in the government service, appointments will be delayed in about half of the vacancies. Vacancies will be created in the entry cadre when promotions are made to fill vacancies in higher posts. However, the rank lists for the posts of LDC, LGS and Secretariat Assistant do not exist. The LDC and LGS rank lists expired last August. The probability list for the new list has just been published.

The main examination for the post of the Graduate level was held in November. However, not even a shortlist has been published so far. The PSC will also have to conduct the main examinations for various posts like Secretariat Assistant, PSC Assistant, Sub-Inspector and Excise Inspector.

Posts will be reduced

The number of existing posts will decrease with the formation of committees to find excess posts in government departments. The posts, which were found to be in excess in the Secretariat, were rearranged as per the recommendation of the Committee constituted for scientific adjustment of the workload in the Secretariat of Public Administration.

PSC has decided that the rank list should be published in proportion to the reported vacancies. Accordingly, the number of people on the LDC and LGS rank lists will be reduced. Only one-third of the candidates, who got featured in the last-grade rank list, have been included in the current probability list. There are 16,618 people on the list in 14 districts. Last time it was 42,285. This time, 23,693 people were included in the LD clerk list. 36,783 people were included in the previous probability list.
