THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has condemned BJP leader Nupur Sharma's derogatory remarks against Prophet. The Chief Minister blamed the Sangh Parivar forces for bringing our country, which is respected by everyone as a secular democratic nation, to a state of shame in front of the world.

The Chief Minister said that the Hindutva communal politics which was insulting the Muslim community was not only destroying the social security of the country but also the economic stability. Many Islamic countries, which employ millions of Indians and make crucial contributions to our economy and development, have become vocal in their opposition to the hatred politics of BJP and Sangh Parivar. Insulting the Prophet is part of the Sangh Parivar agenda. The words of the BJP leader reveals the thoughts of Golwalkar, who considered Muslims, Christians and communists as internal enemies. They are completely ignoring our Constitution which gives every citizen the right to believe in the religion of their choice, he said.

The Constitution does not give anyone the right to insult or deny the faith and culture of another religion. The Chief Minister also demanded that the Central Government take steps to curb such hateful propaganda and to punish those who threatens the country's great secular heritage.
