Film producer arrested for taking loan of Rs 4 crore using fake documents

KASARGOD: A film producer has been arrested in the case of a loan fraud using fake document. The crime branch arrested M D Mehfeez. The complaint is that he cheated an amount of Rs 4 crore. He is accused of embezzling an amount of Rs 4 crore and 17 lakh from the South Indian Bank on various times. The case was registered in February 2021. He took loan in 2018 after producing fake documents. The complaint was lodged after the documents were found to be forged on examination.

Investigators said the fraud was committed by forging multiple documents. The crime branch said they would conduct a detailed investigation into the incident. Mehfeez is also a contractor. His arrest is at a time when his film produced is set to release next week.
