KOCHI: Police have expedited procedures to repatriate Taliparamba native Majeed, the first accused in the Kuwait human trafficking case. Having received his passport details, police will be soon issuing a blue corner notice against him. A lookout notice has already been issued for 52-year-old Majeed.
The custody of Pathanamthitta native Ajumon, the second accused, expired. Following this, he was produced in court yesterday and remanded. Once Majeed is repatriated, Ajimon will be taken back into custody and questioned.
According to Ajumon, Majeed is the only person behind human trafficking. Police are hoping to get more information by interrogating the two together. Majeed, who studied only till Class six, was initially a fishmonger in the Taliparamba. Later, he went to Kuwait. He has been in Kuwait for years. Police have received information that he was an employee of an approved recruitment agency here. He came to Kerala and returned to Kuwait three weeks ago. According to the police, after the news of human trafficking came out, Majeed left for Kuwait through Kannur airport. He left Kerala before the lookout notice was issued.
Majeed received a commission of Rs 1 lakh for bringing each woman to Kuwait. Police have intensified the investigation to find the Kozhikode native who helped Majeed.
