16-year-old girl molested inside train: Two accused yet to be found

KOCHI: Police are yet to find two absconding accused who molested a sixteen-year-old girl inside a train and attacked a youth who tried to help her. Although their hideout was found, the accused escaped before the police reached the spot. The absconding accused are Chalakkudy natives Suresan and Sunil, the second and fifth accused in the case.

Police had earlier arrested three others in the case. The arrested are first accused Periyadan Joy (52), third accused Sijo Anto (43) and fourth accused Suresh (53). According to the accused, they did not molest the 16-year-old girl but got involved in a verbal spat with the girl and her father.

The incident related to the case took place inside the Ernakulam-Guruvayur special train at 7.50 pm last Saturday. The five-member gang started inappropriately touching the girl and verbally abusing her soon after the train left the Ernakulam North Station.
