THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has decided to give compensation in the incident in which an eight-year old girl was harassed by Pink police. The court ordered to pay Rs 1.5 lakh to the girl. The Home Department has decided to collect this amount from police officer Rejitha.

The High Court ordered to pay the compensation in a plea file by the girl's father. Office Rejitha should also bear Rs 25000 spent on court proceedings. The government appealed against this but the court rejected it.

The incident took place on August 27, 2021, when the girl and her father Jayachandran, natives of Attingal, came to see a large cargo being taken to VSSC at Moonumukku junction.

Pink police officer Rejitha accused father and daughter of stealing her mobile phone. But at the end of the investigation, the police found the mobile phone from Rejitha's bag in the vehicle.
