Youth reached home after confirming monkeypox, 15 in contact list of expat who died in Thrissur

THRISSUR: 15 people in contact list of the youth, who died in Thrissur with monkeypox symptoms, have been isolated . Four of his friends, family members and health workers who picked him from the airport are in the contact list. The youth who reached home had gone to play ball. According to the results of the test, the people who came in contact with him, will be under observation. The district medical officer informed that the results of the test being conducted at the Alappuzha Virology Lab will be available this afternoon.

Health Minister Veena George had stated that the youth was confirmed of monkeypox from abroad. The minister said that his relatives gave the report of the disease to the hospital authorities in Thrissur the last day. ‘The youth who reached the state on July 21 reached the hospital on the 27th. He spent that much time with his family. A high-level team will investigate why he reached the hospital so late. Although contagious, monkeypox is not highly transmissible. The health minister said that it is important to take preventive measures.
