The e-commerce giant Flipkart has been fined Rs 1 lakh for selling substandard pressure cooker. The penalty was imposed by the Central Consumer Protection Authority. CCPA Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare stated that although Flipkart does not sell anything directly, the penalty is for allowing the sale of such substandard products.
598 pressure cookers were sold from Flipkart. The CCPA directed the company to send a notification to all customers who made the purchase and to refund the amount. The order also specifies that a detailed report should be submitted within 45 days in this regard.
