THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister has decided to prevent the consumption and distribution of drugs. Higher punishment will be ensured for those involved in such activities. According to the report of the Narcotics Control Bureau, action for preventive detention will be taken against repeated offenders. It has been proposed to prepare a data bank of drug offenders similar to KAAPA register.
Inspections will be strengthened at borders and trains coming to Kerala from other states. The Chief Minister also informed that a special anti-narcotics drive will be conducted under the leadership of police and excise throughout the state.
The fight against drugs will be organized as a popular campaign. The campaign will include youth, women, Kudumbashree workers, community organizations, libraries, clubs, residents' associations, socio-cultural, political groups and other such local associations. A proper plan will be prepared. The campaign will be inaugurated on October 2.
