THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains are likely to lash the state on Tuesday. Red alert has been declared in four districts namely Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki. A holiday has been declared for the educational institutions in Thiruvananthapuram.
Orange alert has been issued in the districts of Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam. Whereas, yellow alert has been declared in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. As isolated heavy thundershowers are likely in the hilly areas of these districts, officials have warned that the hilly areas, which had received heavy rains in the past few days, should be on alert similar to the orange alert.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned the fishermen not to venture into the sea till Thursday. Meantime, yellow alert has been declared in the districts of Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur on Wednesday.
