KOLLAM: Two officials of the corporation have been suspended and the drivers have been temporarily suspended for the delay in supplying water to those accompanying the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The mayor suspended vehicle health inspector Sreekumar and junior health inspector Liju Gopi on the complaint filed by DCC general secretary and the yatra's Eavipuram Mandalam Coordinator Ansar Aziz pending investigation.
An amount of Rs 16992 was paid in advance for nine loads at Rs 1888 per load and eight loads were supplied last night at 7 pm. The remaining load was said to be delivered at 7am yesterday but was delivered only at 1 pm. The employees said the delay in supplying water was because two of the three drivers of the tanker were on leave and one was on duty in the vehicle of a standing committee chairperson. The mayor also informed that the delay in supplying water was dereliction of duty and the drivers have been suspended till further investigation report is received.
