The procedures for the organization polls in the Congress is entering the final stage. Malayali and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor had expressed his interest to contest the polls from the beginning. He also submitted his nomination papers today. However, senior Congress leaders in Kerala are against the candidature of Tharoor. They are against him contesting as he is not the official candidate of the Gandhi family.

Meantime, Sabarinathan came forward publicly supporting Tharoor. He termed the opportunity to sign Tharoor's nomination form supporting him as a lucky minute. He also revealed the reasons for supporting Tharoor via a Facebook post.

He welcomed the organisation polls held after a long hiatus through democratic means. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi said that there will be no one from the Nehru family to head the party. It is believed that when the new party president works with them, can overcome the crisis in the party.
Now coming to the election, I decided to support Dr Shashi Tharoor contesting the polls for a few reasons.

1. Ideology is the most important thing for a political party. No other Congress leader has articulated the visions of Gandhi, Nehru and Ambedkar so accurately for the 21st century. Shashi Tharoor's ability to communicate such politics to the people is seen as a positive factor.

2. He offers a credible alternative to the communal politics promoted by Narendra Modi and the BJP. His secular stance will help him spearhead anti-BJP activities in India. It is believed that he will be able to unite various opposition political parties.

3. Any political movement can move forward only by taking into account the social and cultural changes occurring in the world. The party needs to be more inclusive of these changes. This can be done by Tharoor, who has a broad view of the world, studies every change accurately and updates himself in politics.

4. He had never blamed the party for the ups and downs of his political career. Even when many people left the party for various reasons and faced some personal problems, he exercised freedom of speech by staying within the party. He is 100% a Congress man, albeit in a different way.

5. In the light of my experience with Tharoor, he seemed to believe in collective effort and encouraged such an approach. There is a firm belief that if Tharoor becomes the president, he will bring together all the leaders and turn the organization into a collective work. That style is believed to have a democratic character. Everyone, regardless of age or youth, is expected to participate in the growth and development of the organization.

Chettoor Sankaran Nair, a Malayali became the president of the party in 1897. It is a matter of pride for Kerala when another Malayali competes after 125 years. I consider it a rare opportunity for a humble worker like me to get a chance to support and sign the nomination form of a Malayali.

Beyond the ups and downs of the election, this organizational polls will help to bring a new political culture to the grassroots. Whoever wins will be an asset to the party. It will form a new team with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Best of luck to Tharoor and others. Let there be a transparent election without hatred, without mudslinging, said his post.
