KOCHI: NORKA Director and Chairman of ABN Corporation, JK Menon, said that the investment of NRIs must be for the state and its development. He was speaking at the regional conference of the Loka Kerala Sabha Europe-UK chapter.
JK Menon said that NRIs usually invest in land and houses in Kerala. However, in the present times, we must think about investing in sectors that can lead to the development of the state.
He said that if the government can make arrangements for NRIs to invest in government organizations and government-funded corporations such as airports, K-Rail, etc. then this can lead to the financial growth of Kerala.
Menon said that we have faced the Covid pandemic and other calamities and are still moving forward. We have overcome many conflict situations and still moving on. All this is possible because each time we learn new lessons as sensible human beings.
The NRI business icon added that Loka Kerala Sabha is proof of the love and support that is given to NRIs. He said that Loka Kerala Sabha is the brainchild of Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan and that his every policy for the welfare of NRIs is proof of his care and concern for NRIs.
Menon reminded the conference that there are many issues facing emigrants to foreign countries and that the Europe-UK chapter of Loka Kerala Sabha must discuss them. He spoke about those who take huge student loans to study abroad. It takes years to pay off these loans. And they have to work for years to close the loan. There is a need to get the service for these persons in Kerala. For that, the payback of loans must be made simple.
The Europe-UK chapter of Loka Kerala Sabha was inaugurated by Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan. The meeting was presided over by Industries Minister, P Rajeev. Ministers, V Sivankutty, Veena George, NORKA Roots Resident Vice Chairman, P Sreeramakrishnan, NORKA Vice Chairman, Yusuff Ali, NORKA Directors, Dr. Ravi Pillai, Dr. Azad Moopen, Special Duty Officer, Venu Rajamani also spoke as part of the function.
