THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Isolated heavy rains are likely to lash the state on Monday. Yellow alert has been sounded in two districts. Yellow alert is in Idukki and Wayanad. The rains are due to a cyclone along the coast of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

The Central Meteorological Department has informed that rain with thunder and lightning is possible at isolated places in Kerala till October 13. The officials have warned people to move inside a safe building immediately after seeing the first sign of lightning and remaining in open areas increases the chance of being struck by lightning.

Avoid using telephone at the time of thunder and lightning. Can use a mobile phone. The Central Meteorological Department has instructed to snap power connection of household appliances and to avoid the proximity of electrical appliances during thunderstorms.
