MALAPPURAM: A complaint has been lodged for dragging a woman and taking her to the police station in front of her 10-year-old son. The incident happened at Manjeri in Malappuram. Amritha N Jose of Koomamkulam in Manjeri came forward against the police. However, the explanation of the police is that their action was for stopping them from inspecting the vehicles parked in Town Park at night. The woman lodged the complaint along with the visuals.
Her complaint said that when they stopped their vehicle in the night to have tea, the police who reached the spot unexpectedly hurled abuses at them. The police snatched the mobile phone from her brother who was trying to capture the visuals of the incident. Their friends were also attacked. The complaint said they did not even consider the presence of a ten-year-old with them.
The woman lodged the complaint to women’s commission, child rights commission and human rights commission. Manjeri police said they parked their car in an area where the presence of drug gangs is active. The woman was taken into custody when she tried to stop them from checking her vehicle.
