Buffalo farm owner in Kottayam held with MDMA

KOTTAYAM: The excise nabbed a native of Kottayam who has been selling MDMA in large quantities under the cover of a buffalo farm. A team led by Rajesh John, the circle inspector of Kottayam excise enforcement and anti-narcotic special squad, nabbed the main middleman of MDMA distribution in the district.

Jithin K Prakash (30) of Thiruvanchoor in Kottayam and owner of Monippally ARJ farm was arrested with drugs. In the secret investigations conducted with the help of excise cyber cell, the excise came to the farm under the pretext of buying buffalo and subdued him. 20.893 grams of MDMA, worth more than a lakh in the market, were found in small packets inside his clothes, from his room in the farm and from his Hyundai Verna car.


The main demand for MDMA smuggled from Bangalore was youth and college students. The accused, addicted to MDMA, had been selling drugs to live a luxurious life for over a year. His neighbours said youths used to come to the buffalo farm in new generation bikes and steered transactions till midnight.

The excise team consisted of preventive officers P Lenin, M Naushad, civil excise officers Deepu Balakrishnan, Anish Raj K R and Ratheesh P R, Santhosh Kumar V G Lalu Thankachan, Nimesh K S and Joseph Thomas.
