THRISSUR: Cooperation Minister VN Vasavan has said that necessary steps will be taken to return the house to the family which is left without a shelter after attachment procedures. The decision is to pay the required amount from the risk fund. For this purpose, the Minister appointed the Joint Registrar of the Cooperative Department. A decision will be taken after reaching the place and visiting the family members. The minister also explained that the attachment took place as per the court order.
The bank officials locked the house at around 3 pm on Tuesday. Thrissur Urban Cooperative Bank seized the house following the failure to repay a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh. Omana, a native of Mundoor, and her children Mahesh. and Girish were left on the streets after this. In 2013, the family took a loan of one and a half lakh rupees. Now they have to pay back Rs 5 lakh including interest. The family alleges that the bank authorities did not give them more time despite requests.
