Bike rider responsible for death of woman arrested by police; he had also killed another person in 2020 in accident

THRIPPUNITHURA: The police have registered a case against the bike rider who had caused the death of a woman riding on a scooter at Thrippunithura. A case is registered against the bus driver also. The person who rode the bike, KV Vishnu, is taken into custody by the police for involuntary manslaughter.

The accident took place on Thursday morning at SN Junction in Thrippunithura. Kavya, 26, wife of Sibin of Nadakavu in Udayamperoor, was killed in the mishap while she was travelling on her scooter. Vishnu carelessly overtook Kavya’s scooter through the left side and suddenly tried to take a U-turn. Kavya’s scooter struck Vishnu’s bike and she fell on the road. A private bus that came from behind hit Kavya on her head. She died while being shifted to the hospital.

Vishnu is also an accused in another accidental death in 2020 when his bike hit a person riding on a bicycle. At that time, Vishnu’s license was cancelled for three months. He is a mechanic at a vehicle service center in Edappally.

After the accident, Vishnu escaped with his bike. He was later apprehended by the police and taken into custody.

The police took a case against the bus driver Sujith for not maintaining enough space behind the scooter. The CCTV footage from inside the bus has since been spread on social media.

Kavya was a senior executive at Synergy Oceanic Service Center at Kadavanthara. She is survived by her husband Sibin and son Sidharth.
